Join us for an intimate and elevating fireside chat focused on demystifying neurodiversity, the second event in our Purposeful Diversity series. There's an increased dialogue in our community on neurodiversity and how the built environment can better support learner's needs across all age groups. But do we really understand what that means? This conversation among industry experts will dispel some commonly held misconceptions of neurodiversity. We'll review the lexicon and learn what successful social interactions look like for different neurotypes. The conversation will transition to applicable tools that emphasize a layered approach to the built environment.

Speakers:
Kelly Colon
Kelly Colon is the founder of Eledex Coaching Consulting, LLC, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals, families, and organizations seeking deeper understanding and support for neurodiversity. As a neurodivergent individual and a mother of neurodivergent children, her work is driven by a personal passion to foster environments where everyone, regardless of their differences, can feel safe, seen, heard, and valued. Her expertise lies at the intersection of cognitive diversity and the built environment, where she provides coaching, advocacy, training, and workshops to help neurodivergent individuals thrive. Kelly believes everyone has the right to navigate life successfully without facing societal bias, and her work is a testament to the power of advocacy and innovation.
Gabby Barbuto
Gabby Barbuto, LCSW and SAC, is a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker and School Adjustment Counselor currently serving at North Reading High School. She recently completed her Master’s in Social Work at Merrimack College. Gabby has held various roles in mental health, including her ongoing work as a Per Diem Child Care Counselor at St. Ann’s Home and School. As a neurodivergent individual and mental health provider, Gabby is passionate about fostering knowledge, understanding, and inclusivity within the mental health field. She believes deeply in creating a supportive, welcoming environment for all, recognizing the importance of empowering each person in their unique journey.
Elizabeth McWhorter
Elizabeth McWhorter is a mission-driven leader who is changing the world by making information, skills, and technology work for people. As ThriveIEP’s CEO and co-founder, she is changing how parents advocate for their kids in the special education process, empowering them with a robust platform that provides generative AI-driven insights, information, and assistance to improve educational outcomes. When she's not improving the human experience, she's training for the Pan-Mass Challenge, chasing her kids and dog up and down mountains, and cooking with her husband.
